Meet The Witness
Photo taken by Van Horn Photography
After several blogs and videos, several posts on Facebook and Instagram, and a few shoots later, you’re probably still wondering who exactly is The Witness.
My name is Kirsten Coutts. I am the one behind the camera witnessing so many moments in this world, from weddings, couples in love, musicians sharing their love for music, and so much more.
My passion for photography actually stems from my love of art. While I haven’t actually spent time with a paintbrush in my hand lately, I still get inspired by art every day. Paintings, especially oils and watercolors, are my favorites. I love the brilliant colors of oils, but I love the whimsy look watercolors can have.
I also love animals. I grew up with a dog named Sadie, and several cats, Charlie, Sophie, JR, and Cocoa. Then I got a horse when I was in high school named Lady. If you knew my family, you could say it runs in the family. My Papa was a vetinarian and my mother has always had a love of animals because of that. And a few years ago, on my way home from a trip to Arkansas, I rescued a puppy and named him Ernie. I would rescue more animals, but apartments aren’t exactly pet friendly and I don’t have all the money in the world. Unfortunately. So this photographer is petless.
On top of my love for art and animals, I also love music. I grew up playing piano, played trumpet in band in high school, and now I’m attempting to learn the fiddle and banjo.
What music do I listen to, you ask? Everything. Everything but rap. I love country, but country from the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s, like The Dixie Chicks, Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Shania Twain and George Straight, but also Kacey Muscgraves, Miranda Lambert, and Brad Paisley. I also love classic rock. The Eagles are my faaaaaavorite, along with AC/DC, The Rolling Stones, and Aerosmith. And then there is the man in black, Johnny Cash. He truly has my heart. I also love Bluegrass music. I listen to the Punch Brothers and Nickle Creek, Allison Krauss, Sam Bush, and so many more.
And who can forget the food and drinks! I love food. I love to cook and bake. The holidays are my favorite because of all the food. Dressing, rolls, mashed potatoes, and pie, oh my! I also used to work at Arrington Vineyards, so I have a huge love for wine. My favorite wine is a Pinot Nior. What better combination than food and wine?
If it isn’t obvious already, I love a lot of things. But one thing that I love more than all the things I’ve already mentioned, is love. So if there is anyone who can make sure to capture the precious moments that comes with love in the best way, you can bet your bottom dollar that I am your girl! I know that
